Johanesburg Stadium

The stadium is situated east of the Johannesburg City Centre in the Ellis Park World of Sports precinct which incorporates Coca-Cola Park, Standard Bank Arena, Ellis Park Tennis Stadium and the world class Ellis Park swimmng pool.

The stadium covers an area of 37 000m2 incorporating the stadium and warm up track, parking and pedestrian areas. The unique design of the stadium enables spectators to be close to all activities on the field and track, whilst excellent site lines give superb viewing from all the stadium's seating. The stadium can be used for multipurpose events such as boxing, wrestling, exhibitions, sporting spectacles, banquets, arts and culture festivals and many community events.

The safety and security aspects of the stadium have been a major priority. There is a wide external concourse for movement of spectators and the internal moat which segregates the pitch from the public area ensures maximum safety. The integrated information control system can monitor the entire stadium from the control point, providing excellent security for the spectators as well as the participants. Another attractive feature of the stadium is the highly advanced technical equipment. The electronic scoreboard is one of the largest in South Africa and has display clarity of incredible quality. Superior lighting exceeds the international standards used for television broadcasting. The latest electro acoustical sound system covers all areas of the stadium and is decentralised which limits echoing.

Spectators are provided with easy access catering concession points around the concourse of the stadium. Glass fronted hospitality suites and VIP lounges that overlook the pitch area, are ideal venues for coporate entertainment and hospitality.

The press and media are also provided for with well equipped commentary positions, exclusive media areas and interview rooms.

The sophisticated auditorium is capable of hosting 100 delegates and 6 host speakers with state of the art facilities.

The venue can accommodate 36 000 seated and approximately 10 000 - 15 000 spectators on the floor area.
